We've already looked at how we can use clever tricks to keep our home clean and our kitchen in order. Now it's time to talk about something equally important – choosing household appliances. In the third part of the series "Grandma used to do it like this! Little practical tips." I'll help you navigate the many options on the market. We'll look at how to choose a coffee maker, refrigerator, air conditioner and other basic appliances so that you make a wise and practical investment for your home.
Coffee machine.
If you have decided to buy a coffee machine, the most important thing is to first consider what kind of machine it is: for espresso (standard, automatic or professional), for schwarz (standard or with a pressure of 3-4 bars), there are also combined models. Espresso machines make the strongest coffee. Their prices vary from 100 to 500 BGN. The most important criteria for choosing such a machine are:
- pressure - minimum 15 bar
- crema disc - for thicker coffee with richer crema
- steam, hot water, etc.
An additional extra is the attachment for capsule coffee and one for warming cups. For more demanding customers, we offer coffee machines that are based on the principle of coffee machines, but are pre-loaded and save your time and effort. Additional extras are: display, system for adjusting the strength of the coffee and the degree of its grinding, cup warming, attachment for latte and cappuccino, etc. Their prices vary from 700 to 2000+ BGN. Schwarz machines are for fans of weaker coffee. With them, the choice is between those with pressure and without. Additional extras: timer for switching on and off, warming plate, coffee strength adjustment system, etc. Professional machines are designed for establishments - with one or two groups, with central water supply. The wide range of coffee machines offers a huge selection of models for every coffee connoisseur.
Air conditioning.
One of the most important pieces of advice that can be given is not to save money when buying an air conditioner, because in most cases it turns out that a cheap purchase turns out to be expensive.
First, get acquainted with the square footage of the room in which you want to install an air conditioner and tell the consultant in the store so that he can direct you to the right air conditioner. The best manufacturers of air conditioners remain the Japanese. Their prices are drastically higher than those of their Chinese counterparts, but the quality is beyond comment. The most important things you should look at when buying an air conditioner:
First, make sure the air conditioner is an inverter.
Get to know what temperatures it works at because most Chinese air conditioners refuse to work below -10 degrees.
Look at the coefficient of performance (COP) - you can recognize good air conditioners precisely by this coefficient. If the air conditioner is below 4.00 COP, firstly it will not be economical, secondly it does not have enough power, but keep in mind that the larger an air conditioner is, the more its COP drops.
Get to know the parameters of the emitted noise, good air conditioners operate at up to 30db noise emission.
If you are buying a second-hand air conditioner, choose one with an original remote control because you cannot use all the functions of the air conditioner with a universal one.
Summary: Air conditioning should be a long-term investment, so don't compromise, go for a Japanese air conditioner, keeping in mind that whatever brand you choose, you won't go wrong. Osaka are not Japanese! LG are North Korean and Panasonic are not Japanese either, the Japanese name for Panasonic is National!
Hairdryer.
When choosing a hair dryer, power is important. It helps to achieve quick results. If you intend to style different hairstyles, choose a model with a volume diffuser or a straightening attachment. In addition, some models have a turbo button and a cold jet. Innovations such as ionization, AC motor for long-term operation, ceramic heater, etc. deserve attention. The range includes tourist (folding), standard and semi-professional models.
Refrigerator.
One of the most important things to check when choosing a refrigerator is its size. It is a good idea to know in advance what space in the kitchen you have designated for the refrigerator, because it may turn out that the appliance you like and buy cannot fit there.
Last but not least, low price should not be the leading criterion for judgment, but rather the energy class, i.e. the degree of economy.
Sewing machine.
If you have decided to buy a sewing machine, first pay attention to the number of operations (functions) that the machine model you like supports. The more, the better. Depending on the model, they are from 7 to 100+. They are combined: standard and decorative. In higher-class models, additional extras are: automatic threading, electronic display, preset program parameters, attachments for "difficult" fabrics, as well as an overlock attachment, an attachment for easier manipulations with bulky fabrics, etc. Last but not least, the warranty period and the manufacturer are important.
Iron.
One of the most important things when choosing an iron is the coating of its soleplate. The ease of working with it depends on this, other important criteria are power and steam. They further facilitate ironing, especially on "difficult" fabrics. It is a good idea to ask whether the given model has innovations such as: anti-drip system, anti-limescale system, automatic shutdown, ionized steam, etc. The range includes tourist (compact), standard, models with steam generators, etc.
