No. PDF Merge runs entirely locally - in your browser's memory, using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device and are never uploaded to a server. We have no access to them at any point in the process.

Yes - precisely because all processing happens locally in your browser, with no server upload, the tool is suitable for contracts, invoices and other sensitive documents. Close the tab and everything is cleared from memory.

When you select files, your browser loads them directly into its own memory and merges them using a JavaScript library running client-side. The resulting PDF is also generated locally and downloaded straight to your device.

We don't impose an artificial limit. The real constraint comes only from your device's available RAM and CPU power, since files are processed in your browser's memory rather than on a server.

A connection is only needed to load the page initially. The actual merging of your PDF files then happens fully offline, in your browser.
